Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal data the Bluebells app (“Bluebells,” “we,” “us”) collects, why, who it’s shared with, how long it’s kept, and the rights you have over it, in line with UK GDPR. Bluebells is operated by Annetta Snider, trading as Bluebells, of Bluebells, 1 Bostocks Close, Cranleigh, GU6 7RZ, United Kingdom.

What we collect

Account information: your email address, used for login (via Supabase Auth). Garden data: your garden’s name, postcode, soil type, and site conditions; the beds you set up and their conditions; photos and identification details of the plants you add; monthly health-check photos and any notes or product details you log against a care task. Usage data: which features you use, generated as a normal part of the app working, not tracked separately for analytics beyond what’s needed to run the service.

Why we collect it

Every piece of data above exists to power a specific feature: postcode for weather-based advice and regional climate context in care plans and plant suggestions, photos for plant identification and health diagnosis, soil and bed conditions for personalised care plans, email for account access. We do not collect data “just in case,” and we do not use your garden data for anything beyond generating your own advice.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of third-party processors, each of which only receives the specific data needed to perform its function, and none of which are permitted to use your data for their own purposes:  • Supabase hosts our database, handles login, and stores your photos. Hosted in the EU (eu-west-1). • Plant.id receives photos you submit for plant identification, to return a species match. • Anthropic (Claude API) receives your garden and bed conditions, including your postcode for regional climate context, to generate care plans and plant suggestions, and receives health-check photos to generate a diagnosis. • OpenWeatherMap receives your postcode to return a local weather forecast. • Apple processes payment for the paid subscription tier via in-app purchase; we never see or store your card details.  We do not sell your data to anyone, for any purpose.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If your subscription lapses, your data is kept but access becomes read-only — nothing is deleted. Data is only permanently deleted when you delete your account (Settings → Delete my account).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it (most of which you can already do directly in the app), request its deletion (Settings → Delete my account, or by contacting us directly), request a copy of it in a portable format, and object to or restrict certain processing. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been mishandled.

Children

Bluebells is not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we’ll let you know in the app before the changes take effect.
